Our Newest Brew: Pota Caifé, Dry Irish Coffee Stout

For months, people asked the question, "If you're an Irish brewery, why don't you have a stout?" and our answer was, "Soon."  Just three weeks ago we brewed a pilot batch of a Dry Irish Stout and visited Grover's Mill Coffee Roasters in West Windsor, NJ

L-R: Dark Tanzanian, Darker Tanzanian (custom) & Espresso beans

At Grover's Mill, the morning began with a sampling of half a dozen coffee varieties.  The roasts started light and got subsequently darker until we found the perfect bean for our stout; Dark Tanzanian.  But it wasn't dark enough for our liking, so they made a custom roast called Darker Tanzanian.  Grover's Mill description of Dark Tanzanian is:
100% Organically shade grown coffee from Southern Tanzania is said to be some of the finest Arabica coffee in East Africa.  This smooth, yet flavorful coffee is a house favorite.

Pota Caifé (pot of coffee, in Gaelic) will be available, in limited quantity, this weekend at the brewery only.  Our plan is to release Pota Caifé St. Patrick's Day weekend, beginning March 14.

Tasting room hours this weekend are: Thurs & Fri 4:00-8:00 pm, Saturday 1:00-7:00 pm
